Marlins' Miller is Twice a Star
The Champion Marlins were trailing the Knights by two runs moving into the bottom of the seventh inning when Jeff Miller hit a triple with bases loaded to drive in the game winning RBI. Prior to the seventh, the Marlins had just four hits to the Knights' then thirteen, with no extra-base hits. Miller took over the mound in the fifth to relieve starter Brandon Keck, and had a rocky start that included six hits and four runs. The Knights' Justin Street had a first inning triple, and teammate Nate Daugherty finished the game three for five with a double. Earlier in the evening, P.I.&I Express and the Trumbull Merchants battled through nine innings with the Merchants ultimately coming out victorious. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Adam Morgan's base hit scored Mike Hanck for a 2-1 final score. Both Steve Liebel and Dave Tofil pitched the duration of the game, Lievel with nine strikeouts. Express' Frank Rosile was four for four.
